The Magician and His Assistant INSTANTLY change places from inside a box made of thin PAPER, and the paper is left Totally Intact! AND you'll notice the box rests on a platform only 3-4 INCHES above the floor! You have to see it to believe it!
#43 The Paper Frame Illusion
Uses these magic procedures: Misdirection, Special Props
The Illusion is done by having the Magician' Assistant get out of the Box thru the BACK SIDE just before the cloth is drapped over the entire apparatis, and before the Magician climbs up onto the Box...
Then as he raises the cloth upwards, she climbs up under it standing INFRONT of him (under the cloth) and grabs hold of the front edges of the cloth...
Next as he raises the cloth above his head, he LETS GO OF IT and IMMEDIATELY DROPS BACK to the floor BEHIND the box (still underneath the cloth) and re-enters into the box...while she appears in view...
The Illusion is then continued as the Video shows, and the Magician suddenly appears in full view... and so they have cleverly changed places...
The handcuffs are simply trick cuffs for quick escape...
So how do they get thru the Paper Frame Box?
The paper is much stronger than it looks and when it is wrapped around the sides (as the box is spun around), the Magician is careful to not overlap it too much or pull it too tightly along the back side...
This allows his Assistant to simply slide the folds apart at the back of the box just enough to enable her body to slide carefully thru the opening (somewhere near the bottom edge)...
She leaves it open so the Magician can re-enter and then he carefully slides the paper folds back together... this requires hours of practice to avoid tearing the paper...
The Magician's movements, background music, pretty dancing girls (in some versions) and lighting, all add to the misdirection away from these secrets... this whole Illusion requires much PRACTICE to insure complete success...
